Meet Dr. Aaron Havens
Aaron Havens, DMD, MS
Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodonitcs, Specializing in Orthodontics in Children & Adults
I feel incredibly fortunate to be in a profession that I love and for parents and patients to trust me with their orthodontic care. I am motivated by my desire to educate and treat patients and their families, and I welcome the opportunity to provide a family-focused orthodontic practice in our community.
Our extremely talented and friendly team will provide you and your family with the most up-to-date information and latest research to deliver the highest standard of care. Our team welcomes patients of all ages and looks forward to the opportunity to get to know you throughout your treatment.
I was raised in Michigan and throughout my childhood I called Romeo home. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University receiving my Doctor of Medical Dentistry. I returned to the University of Michigan to complete my orthodontic training and received my Master of Science in Orthodontics. Throughout my academic path, I sought out challenging research opportunities. For my research in the field of bone stem cell biology, I received the prestigious Milo Hellman Award, which is given for the top research in the nation by the American Association of Orthodontists. Over the past years, I have spoken both nationally and internationally on my research and published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles. I continuously seek collaborations with The University of Michigan on research studies within orthodontics and beyond.
Although my formal education is complete, I frequently attend continuing education courses and study the latest research to enable me to provide the most advanced and evidence-based care to my patients. Such topics include lingual "hidden" braces, Invisalign®, and 3-D technology.
I believe staying active in organized dental and orthodontic associations is integral to our profession. I am Invisalign® and Incognito certified and I regularly study methods to improve esthetics and efficiency within my practice. The continuing education opportunities and interactions with my peers allow me to offer better care for my patients. I am an active member in the following organizations:
- American Dental Association
- Michigan Dental Association
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists
- Michigan Association of Orthodontists
- Detroit District Dental Society
- American Board of Orthodontics
Outside the Office
Besides moving teeth, I am happily married to my wife, Elizabeth, an Emergency Room physician. We welcomed our daughter, Nina, into the world in late 2014. Besides being kept busy at home with our daughter, we have a Golden Retriever named Ollie. Even though I cannot find the amount of practice time I once had, I still enjoy playing golf and squash on evenings or weekends.
